Alumni Committee
The ESHS Rebel Countdown
Alumni Committee was organized in July, 2005, with a mission and
scope of coordinating the events celebrating the final year of
our school. During this time, we also discussed organizing a new
alumni association that would be charged with keeping the ESHS
family and traditions together for generations to come.
The Emma Sansom Alumni Association Articles of Incorporation
have been filed and recorded. We have a tax ID number, a PO Box,
a telephone number, a checking account and have filed for the
tax exempt status. At some point in the near future, the ESHS
Rebel Countdown Committee will be dissolving its articles of
incorporation after any remaining debts have been satisfied.
Once this is completed, the new committee will be responsible
for all future events.
In an effort to get the new organization started, a meeting has
been planned to set up the working committee. Please contact as
many ESHS alumni as possible that would like to be involved on
this committee or any other committee to let them know about the
meeting. We hope to have a large turnout of our fellow Alumni
that are willing to work hard and, most importantly, have fun!

Block Party Video
- Great
News! The Official Emma Sansom High Block Party DVD
is now being shipped to those that pre-ordered.
After those orders have been completed, we will post
another message with the links to the order forms
where you can purchase the DVD at a cost of $20.00,
which includes shipping in the U.S. This video was
filmed and produced by Jimmy Williams and Image1media
out of Greenville SC. Jimmy and Image1media have
created not just a video from the day of the block
party, but a documentary. The video has voice
over from Carl Brady and contains many more elements
than just the Block Party. Video was shot from
various locations around Gadsden, about the school's
history, segments about the band. and sports
achievement. There will even be a brief segment
about Emma herself. The video has interviews with
some of our fellow ESHS alumni, including Mr. Rip
Reagan and Mr. Ben Pillitary. This documentary
contains video filmed throughout the entire day of
the Block Party and includes the parade, interviews,
band performances and the Fireworks Show.

Oh, by the way, we are also working on a special event once the
DVD is ready that we think everyone will be excited about, so
check back often to the web site for updates.
A Note from Clint
Ellison about the Block Party
WOW!!! What
more can I say. The Lord surely blessed us. We were all
astounded, to say the least, at how smoothly things went. Even
our greatest concern, the weather, was perfect. The brief
sprinkle of rain around 9:00pm proved to be short lived and was
only enough to dampen the roads, but not our spirits. The
fireworks show during the intermission of the Tyn Tymes
performance, choreographed to ESHS Rebel Band music from the
1960s, was truly spectacular. Based on manual counts, input from
the bands and the alumni who signed our guest register, we put
the final crowd estimate at between 4,000 - 5,000 people for the
entire event. We had alumni from California to New York and all
points in between.
